Extracted from the sea (LR, mud superstars, hermits

Steven Specialist, Are you presently in the Philippines? It will not stink nevertheless smells like a rock out of the ocean (hehe definitely this is where they came from). When it doesn’t stink would We still have to reduce they? I truly want to get some having my container however, We have no idea when it is also go on my personal bottom pebbles because this is not fine sand so i did not bring any having today. Will it live on my bottom pebbles regardless if it is far less great as the mud exactly what it was applied also? However, I am not sure if they’re reef secure. But I’m able to maybe not discover such hermit crabs on the crabs web site.

Only a couple of them are indeed there and they are perhaps not reef safer. The others has black feet which have gold places having yubo mobiel purple (possibly maroon) antennae and two blue nothing antennae. Are they reef secure also? They won’t acquisition pull out. Each of them have to eat something. It is only a matter of whether i well worth what they eat. They’ll eat one thing they come around the that they may eat with ease. When the food is abundant, they may get-off your snails alone. For many who practice an effective husbandry and don’t features nuisance alga and you may uneaten food every-where, your own crabs might be eager and use most other sufferer factors. I wanted to take new material and the shrimp, however, We have a good banded red coral shrimp which whenever i include some other shrimp of the identical varieties they could challenge.

It really is like a rock ranch

I did not know that this type of shrimps along with are now living in most superficial waters regarding merely step three feet strong. I absolutely have to come back truth be told there as well as have particular most rocks and many invertebrates. And they are free! I.) Therefore all the hermit crabs might not be reef safe unless provided safely? Villagers as well as look after such stones market these to different LFS in new Philippines. If you don’t want to have the difficulty out-of meeting rocks you can buy it there. But when you require free merely get individual at no cost in addition they cannot head. It could be unusual when it comes down to government not to have particular type of controls set up.

There is certainly a little LFS around one promote fishes, corals, invertebrates, and you will alive stone

Hermit Crab Hello those who couldn’t make it to MACNA. <> One of my (saltwater) hermit crabs was upside down in his shell looks for something like a few days and now his claws are missing. It looks like he only has two legs right now and is definitely unable to move with his huge shell (he got greedy in getting a new home). What should I do with him until he can grow he claws back, which I am assuming will take a few molts at least? Would it be better if I keep him in the main tank, the sump/refugium <>, or quarantine tank?? How should I feed him, or at least he has access to food?? <> Thanks, Kim

Red Slime Algae Hi Bob, Haven’t written in quite some time. I have a case of Red Slime Algae. I’ve neglected my tank over the summer (I’ve been a bad boy) and now I’m going to remedy it through large water changes every week. I know what needs to be done, but I’ve seen claims from a few “sellers” that Red Leg Hermits eat red slime algae. Have you ever seen this? Thanks, Tony
